"Fish! Fish! FIIIIIISSHHHH!"

Name: Rico
Gender: Male

Voice Actor: John DiMaggio
Rank: Unknown
Status: Weapons Expert
Talents: Can Regurgitate Almost Anything, Role: Weapons Expert, Expert Weaponry/Demolitions, Common Weapon: Explosives - Good at Combat, and Secret Weapon: Psychotic Derangement
First Appearance: Madagascar (Movie)

Rico is the weapons expert of the team most likely because he loves to cause explosions with mostly dynamite. And since he's able to regurgitate almost anything even if the object is bigger than himself, even on Skipper's demand. He's the second tallest of the group, only being behind Kowalski. At first Rico doesn't appear with feathers on his head that resemble a Mohawk and scar that is across his beak until a Christmas special featuring the other three penguins and in the series. Unlike the other three, Rico mostly speaks in grunts rather than speaking actual words other than some small and simple words. Later on in the series, it is known that he's in love with his female doll called Mrs Perky. He has an appetite for destruction so much that it causes trouble for the other penguins if he goes over board with causing destruction, because of this he's only allowed to use explosives if it's necessary. It's known that he becomes sick for mushy stuff that causes him to throw up. He also loves eating fish.

Name Origin: I did find one definition of Rico but I don't think it's right.. so not much is known but looking up the meaning of Rico did give me this: Rico is a Spanish word meaning; rich and delicious but there are more meanings, and can refer to anything that is good.

Major Episode Appearances

Since Rico appears in every episode I can't simply call them 'Episode Appearances' can I? So, that's why they're called Major Episode Appearances since there are episodes that really focus on Rico. I most likely won't put them all down just some of them.

Episode 116a: What Goes Around

During the zoo's closing time a little girl drops her doll. The penguins try to launch it to her but it ends up in the sewer. Trying to figure out how to get the little girl's doll back they think about getting a replacement and notices that Rico has a doll that's like the little girl's. They think about using Rico's doll as the replacement which he refuses but is convinced by Skipper which chances his mind. They venture out into the city to find the apartment building where the little girl lives and leaves Rico's doll at the door. He has a hard time letting his doll go but Private cheers him up by saying that when you do good deeds, good comes back to you. On the way out Rico trips over a can of sardines, thinking it's payment for his good deed but it turns out that it's a trap set by the animal control officer, Officer X who has been called by the apartment security. He captures the penguins with a cage but Rico regurgitates a stick of dynamite as they blast through the concrete and land in the sewer. Knowing that they would have trouble getting back home with Officer X's van, Rico distracts him, bullfighter style while the other penguins unscrew the screws in the van's wheels which falls off and crashes. The penguins run into Officer X again in the sewer, they notice a sewer line that's right above him. Rico cuts the sewer line with a chainsaw but nothing happens as something is blocking the sewer line which happens to be the lost doll which Rico happily keeps.

Episode 210b: Driven to the Brink

Skipper takes his team out for some combat driving drills that Kowalski and Private doesn't do well in, unlike Rico who does it incredibly well. Rico drives the car all day until night time, which Skipper stops him even though Rico wants to keep on driving. Later on, Kowalski shows Rico some of his inventions in the garage where the car is placed. Thinking about driving the car so much, he's unable to sleep so he secretly goes to the garage to get the car but is stopped by the speak-and-spell which is triggered by him stepping into the red line that says 'Don't even think about it, Rico!' which he groans about. Since he's unable to drive the car, Rico shots it with his flamethrower which destroys it. He takes the car out for a spin, driving it crazy into random habitats but unfortunately crashes it after driving it into the lemur habitat. He hastily rebuilds it before the others wake up but accidentally puts one Kowalski's inventions inside the hood of the car. The next day, Rico drives it again which goes out of control and chases Rico after he gets kicked out of the car, that seems to have a mind of it's own. It breaks out of the garage that night, attacking Rico which the other penguins intervene and rescue him. Even though they set up some heavy defenses around their habitat, the car still attacks him by coming up out of their pool and captures him. Skipper becomes determined to save him but gets injured. Becoming angered by this, Rico attacks the car with a bomb that soon blows up while saving Skipper in the processes. The penguins still don't know why the car went crazy, until one of the inventions Rico placed in, lands in Kowalski's flippers and figures it out: when Rico rebuilt the car he accidentally put one of his inventions in it, the Laser Guided Targeting System that targeted Rico and controlled the car to do so.
